Mothers Hoping OB Appeals Are Helping

More than one mother is hoping a packed hall at the Roma Club on Wednesday night will help convince the Erie-St. Clair LHIN to find a way to keep the obstetrics program open at Leamington District Memorial Hospital.

Sandra Dick is an expectant mother from Leamington and one was one of the hundreds in attendance for the special meeting in the town on the proposed OB closure.

"I'm due a month after it closes, if it closes. If it's open, I'm going to be here, but if it's not? Well, I dont have a choice," says Dick. "I'm terrified about that drive to Windsor if I have to make it. My husband's terrified. I'm really hoping we're going to be successful here."

The proposed closure of the obstetrics ward at Leamington District Memorial Hospital is for March 31, 2015. The Erie-St. Clair LHIN is set to meet again on November 27 to review the issue.
