Remembrance Day Scare In Dresden

Fifteen Lambton-Kent Composite School students fell ill and three were sent to hospital during Dresden's Remembrance Day Ceremony.

The school's principal Scott McKelvie says after marching to the cenotaph in downtown Dresden, some students fell and complained of dizziness and feeling faint. "A majority of them knew enough to sit down or talk to someone next to them," says McKelvie. "And we attended to their needs at that point in time."

School officials add that a mixture of the students standing for an extended period of time, as well as being out in the sun in mild temperatures was what resulted in the incident.

McKelvie adds luckily, police and fire crews were on hand in assisting teachers with the affected students. At the time of publication, two students had been released and were resting at home.
