Legendary Windsor MP Being Remembered

The wife of a legendary Windsor politician will be in the city to attend a tribute in his honour.

Herb Gray died earlier this year at the age of 82 with his funeral held in Ottawa. His wife Sharon will be in town this week so the Windsor West Federal Liberal Association decided this was a good time to hold the event.

Association President Dave Sundin says the free event is open to the public. "It's basically just a social event," says Sundin. "It's a chance to meet with Mrs. Gray, extend condolences to her, reminisce about any contact that Mr. Gray might have had with the individual attending." Sundin adds there's no formal schedule throughout the evening but expects Mrs. Gray will address the crowd at some point. The event gets underway at 6pm at Rino's Kitchen and Ale House at 131 Elliott St. W. Light refreshments will be provided.

Herb Gray was involved in federal politics for over 40 years. Among his accomplishments, Gray was Canada's first-ever Jewish federal cabinet minister and was at one time the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada.
