A strong first period helped give the Amherstburg Admirals a 8-3 win over the Wallaceburg Lakers.
During Wednesday's game, the Admirals scored four unanswered goals in the first period to gain a 4-0 lead. In the second, the Lakers made it on the board with two goals, but Amherstburg continued their big lead by scoring three points of their own. In the final 20 minutes, both teams scored one goal, giving the Admirals the win.
Mark Gangnon was lead scorer for the Admirals with two goals. Chad Copeland, Luke Gangnon, Cole Martyniuk, James Brooks, Marshal Laing and Steven Spada each scored one.
Mike Kindrachuk, Trevor Waller and Jeff Brown scored the three goals for Wallaceburg.
The Lakers are back on the ice on Saturday to take on the Moortown Flags at 7:30pm. The Admirals face off against the Alvinston Flyers on Friday at 7:30pm.
