Winter Coats Ready For Distribution

Thanks to the generosity of Chatham-Kent residents, this year’s Operation Cover-Up program will be able to keep even more people warm this year.

More than 1,700 winter coats have been collected so far, beating last year’s total of 1,515.

“I have been a recipient in the past and I am very grateful for that,” says Mary Symons, who oversaw the program this year. “Knowing that I can pick up a coat at no cost has allowed me personally to ensure a bill is paid or to be able to pick up groceries or just to have that extra money for something the children might need.”

Coupons for the coats can be picked up at Salvation Army or United Way locations in Tilbury, Wallaceburg and Chatham. The coats will then be distributed at Salvation Army Thrift Stores across the municipality until November 15.
