UPDATE: OPP Cruiser Involved In Collision

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is now investigating a two-car crash in Lakeshore that sent both drivers to hospital, including an on-duty police officer.
Essex County Ontario Provincial Police say around 2:30pm, the crash occurred on County Rd. 42 between County Rd. 31 and East Ruscom River Rd. Police say the officer, who is from the Lakeshore OPP detachment, was responding to another motor vehicle collision at the time of the crash.
The OPP officer and the other driver both suffered non-life threatening injuries. The officer has since been treated and released, but the other driver is still being assessed.
County Rd. 42 was closed following the crash, but it has since been reopened.
The incident is still under investigation.
