Blaney Speaks on Terror Attack
Minister of Public Safety Steven Blaney says the hit and run involving two Canadian soldiers will be investigated by RCMP.
On Monday, two Canadian soldiers, one in uniform, were struck by a car while walking through a parking lot in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. One of the soldiers died in hospital overnight.
In a news conference earlier today, Blaney says this act is linked to a terrorist ideology. “This is a terrible act of violence against our country, against our military, against our value. This is a sobering reminder of the sacrifices and bravery of the men and women who serve our country.”
Police say the 25-year-old driver of the car was in the parking lot for more than two hours before the incident occurred. He was later shot and killed by police. The investigation is ongoing.
