You might have seen Chad Peterson before: He’s the fan at Chatham Maroons games wearing his flashing goal light hat.

But now Peterson is trying to attract the attention of Kraft Hockeyville organizers. This is the second time Peterson is attempting to nominate Chatham as one of Canada’s best hockey towns, last year he submitted his application too late.

Past winning communities have seen $100,000 go towards new renovations for their local arena, as well as an NHL exhibition game played in their town.

That’s why Peterson is already preparing for 2015, nominating a town he feels is well deserving of the honour. “We have minor league hockey teams [at Chatham Memorial Arena], we have small kids skating around the ice, so I think its really really important to get better upgrades.”

Peterson has some ideas for the upgrades as well. He’d like to see railings installed in the stands and hear a better sound system, also “a better scoreboard and better seating.”

Peterson hopes to form a rally at Chatham Memorial Arena in the near future. He’s set up a facebook page for the cause, which can be found by clicking here.
