CK Gets Five Blooms
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has received a Five Bloom rating from Communities in Bloom, as well as a special mention for Preservation of Natural Sites by Volunteers.
In July, trained volunteer judges traveled to Chatham-Kent to evaluate the community’s contributions to tidiness, environmental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscape and floral displays.
Communities in Bloom judges Jim Baird and Berta Briggs credit the Sydenham Field Naturalists, the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority, along with donors and volunteers who took over over properties such as the Peers Wetland and Sycamore Woods for preservation and restoration.
The municipality participated in the international challenge (large) category along with Sarnia, and the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, England.
