History Featured At Buxton Homecoming

Residents of North Buxton kick off their 91st annual Homecoming weekend today with a history and genealogy conference.

Volunteer Shannon Prince says a number of elements of black history will be covered.

“Tamari Kitossa is going to be talking about sundown laws,” she says. “A lot of people are not aware of what sundown laws are, basically blacks had to be out of certain towns by sundown.”

The weekend includes a reenactment, art in the park, softball and football tournaments and the parade on Monday.
