Councillor Hanging It Up

Long-time Chatham-Kent Ward 1 representative┬áBrian King won’t be seeking another term.

King is 62 years old and has been holding a councillor seat since 1990.

“It occurred to me about a year and a half ago. Maybe it’s time to step down and see if there was any interest in the community for new people to be running,” says King. “You need to analyze your life and where you’re going… there comes a time in your life when it’s hard to manage everything.”

Mark Authier, Bryon Fluker and Rudy Toews are vying for the two seats. Another candidate, Holly Sullivan, has withdrawn her nomination.
