Smoking Ban To Be Debated
If you’re thinking about lighting up in a public space in Chatham-Kent it might not be long before that’s illegal.
The Smoke Free Public Places and Workplaces by-law will be debated at Monday night’s council meeting.
It essentially forbids smokers from lighting up on municipally owned property, including sports fields, beaches, parks, and recreational facilities.
Officials with the health unit want to limit tobacco use and other forms of smoking in an effort to denormalize the addictive habit.
