Clachan native Travis Konecny is headed to the 2014 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup with Team Canada.

The 17-year-old forward has been selected to play for Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 team after a four days of camp in Calgary.

Konecny was named OHL Rookie of the Year during the 2013-14 season, leading all rookies in scoring with 70 points in 63 games while playing for the Ottawa 67’s.

Canada has won the summer tournament six years in a row. The team, made up of two goaltenders, seven defencemen and 13 forwards, will take on Switzerland on August 11 to start the tournament.
