Chatham’s Bridget Carleton has been named to Canada’s Junior Women’s National Basketball Team.

The 6’1″ guard will compete with Team Canada at the FIBA Americas U18 Championships in Colorado Springs August 6 -10.

Despite making the team, Carleton says there are aspects of her game she needs to improve on. “My ball handling could be better, just for my height, being able to protect the ball and be able to play against quicker players, shorter players and still be able to handle the ball pretty well. Finishing at the rim against contact, just cause at the higher level people are stronger and more physical so I think finishing with that contact is definitely something I can work on.”

The 17-year-old played for Canada at the U17 FIBA World Championship in Czech Republic earlier this month where the team finished 6th.
