The Chatham-Kent Police Service Critical Incident Response Team had to be called in Saturday night to deal with a domestic situation in Wheatley.

Police say a man got into a fight with his former common-law wife, and allegedly choked her and pinned her to the wall.

The woman escaped without injury and contacted police.

Police believed there was a gun in the home, so the CIRT team was called in to arrest the man. He was taken into custody without incident and a rifle was seized.

The 35-year-old Wheatley man is facing 16 different charges including assault with a weapon and mischief.
