Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara is thanking emergency responders for their efforts in fighting the fire at the town’s Bonduelle plant on Friday.

“I can’t be more proud of the efforts of our first responders,” says McNamara, adding emergency planning saved the day. “All in all through our parks department, public works department, everything worked like clockwork. Clearly, we saved the production plant.”

McNamara is also thanking emergency responders who came from outside Tecumseh with fire crews from Windsor, Lakeshore and Kingsville assisting as well as different policing services working together including OPP, Windsor and Chatham-Kent police services.

Ontario’s community safety minister Yasir Naqvi also thanks first responders for their “hard work, dedication and professionalism” in a statement released to the press and adds the province is ready to provide “additional assistance” if needed.
