Kingsville Golfer Sets Course Record

Kingsville’s Alyssa Getty shot a competitive course record of four-under par 68 at Maple City Country Club to take the opening round lead at the Investors Group Ontario Jr. Girls’ Championship.
The 17-year-old has a three shot lead, continuing her strong play from last week when she won the CN Future Links Quebec title.
Other locals in the field include Jasmine Ly of Windsor who’s tied for 19th after carding an 81, Brooke MacKinnon of Chatham shot an 88 and is tied for 38th, Melanie Burgess of LaSalle is tied for 45th after finishing with a 94, and Chatham’s Julia Moretto rounded out the field with a 110, tied for 51st.
The second round of the four-day tournament gets underway Wednesday morning.
