OPP Patrol Lake Erie
A total of four boaters are facing charges in three different incidents on Lake Erie and Rondeau Bay.
Around 12:30pm on Saturday afternoon, police found two kayakers in the middle of the lake without lifejackets. The pair from Chicago, IL face a charge of operating a human-powered boat without personal flotation device.
Just after 3pm that same day, officers discovered a 33-year-old Wallaceburg man towing two people in an inflated tube, but did not have enough space for each person on his boat. He was also operating the boat without a licence.
In the third incident, a 19-year-old Chatham man was caught drinking while on a boat on Rondeau Bay and charged.
The OPP says officers will be out on the waterways all summer combating unsafe boating.
