The man charged in connection with a head-on crash on Hwy. 401 that killed a Windsor teen and her uncle is now before the courts.

Leszek Urbaniak, 57, of London faces two charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death. He made his first court appearance in Chatham today.

Alyssa Smulders, 13, and her uncle, Marc Lafontaine of Windsor, were both killed in the May crash when Urbaniak’s transport truck crossed the centre median of Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent and hit their car head-on.

Urbaniak made a brief appearance and did not enter a plea before his matter was adjourned until July 29.
