Canada’s self-proclaimed “Prince of Pot” is being released from a U.S. federal prison and will be sent back to Canada via the Windsor border.

Marijuana activist Marc Emery, 56, is currently serving a five-year sentence after pleading guilty to selling marijuana seeds online to American customers. He is being released 235 days early, on July 10, for good behaviour.

Emery believes he will be dropped off in Windsor by U.S. authorities between August 10 and 25.

“We will have an impromptu gathering somewhere in Windsor after my arrival,” Emery writes in his last blog post from prison. “Other venues for meeting people will surely be planned and announced, but everything will be done short-notice, so stay tuned for news alerts.”

Emery is expected to return to his home in Vancouver with his wife Jodi and continue working at their Cannabis Culture store.
