The Chatham-Kent Police Service says the Prairie Siding Bridge, west of Chatham, is open to traffic again after a large truck blew through the gates while the bridge was closing.

Constable Mike Pearce says the driver was heading southbound on Jacob Rd. this morning and drove onto the swivel bridge as it was returning to its closed position. That stopped the process, leaving the bridge slightly open. The truck is also stuck on the structure.

Pearce says the municipality has called in an electrician to fix the bridge, however, the closure is expected to last most of the day. He says the collision twisted the gate arm.

Charges are pending.
