Adding Afghanistan Memorial

All war memorials and cenotaphs across Chatham-Kent will soon commemorate Canada’s role in the Afghanistan war.
“It’s a war that Canada was involved in for over 10 years,” says Councillor Michael Bondy, who brought the idea to council. “Locally a couple of Canadian soldiers were killed in the war so I felt that it was only appropriate that Chatham-Kent council initiate this memorial.”
If all 14 memorials are engraved it will cost council $3,500. Some communities across Chatham-Kent have already added the war to its cenotaph.
