Waterline Limbo For Residents

A group of Lakeshore residents are looking to the municipality to help fix an aging private waterline.

Barbara Mailloux says the water comes from Chatham-Kent and officials there have offered to oversee the replacement of the 55-year-old, 2″ line.

“There are no grants available to us as individuals,” says Mailloux. “We aren’t sure if the township would have to take our waterline over right now to apply for those grants. They won’t do that because once it’s theirs, they are paying for repairs.”

The cost would be more than $30,000 per homeowner to replace the line and serves 22 homes.
