The Canadian government is opening up an additional Nexus lane at the Ambassador Bridge just in time for the summer travel season.

The trusted travellers program allows registered low-risk travellers to expedite the border clearing process between Canada and the US.

MP Jeff Watson says with increased enrollment in the program, additional infrastructure is needed. “The two governments, as a part of the Beyond the Border Action Plan, have made a very deliberate effort to expand trusted traveller programs including Nexus as a way of sort of separating sort of low-risk travel, which is the predominant amount of travel and getting them through expedited infrastructure.”

The new Nexus lane will be open immediately during high-traffic periods. This brings the number of Nexus lanes in Windsor up to six with three at the Ambassador Bridge and three at the tunnel.
