The owners of a former publishing business office in Dresden want to turn it into an apartment complex.

Administration is recommending Chatham-Kent Council approve the bylaw change to the former North Kent Leader and Voice of the Farmer office.

The application calls for the property at 254 Main St. to be converted into five apartment units. A zoning bylaw amendment is required for the owners to give each unit its own exterior entrance in order to maximize the interior space.

Under the current bylaw, an apartment dwelling is defined as having five or more units that has its chief access to and from the outside by way of a common hallway, stairway or elevator.
