The Town of Lakeshore is continuing to fundraise for the new Multi-Use Recreation Facility despite meeting its $3-million goal.

The fundraising committee has raised $3.2-million through naming rights and community group fundraisers.

“It’s included the larger companies donating all the way down to some of our children’s groups out doing bake sales so it’s really been a community wide effort and that’s what’s helped us reach our goal,” says Mayor Tom Bain. He says there are still opportunities for some naming rights throughout the facility.

The tender for phase two of the project which includes an aquatic centre goes out shortly and closes August 12. The hockey rinks in phase one will open September 1 while the library, recreation rooms and walking track will open shortly after that.
