Educating Students About Voting
Elections Ontario and the Student Vote program are teaching kids as young as ten about the election process and voting.
The program is aimed to engage students in local politics. Teachers can access educational materials online ahead of the election, then make their class vote.
“It’s an in-class election simulation that goes on during the time a real election is underway. It makes students understand that there is an election going on and they can be part of it,” says Deputy Chief Electoral Officer for Ontario Loren Wells. “They give equal coverage to all of the political parties. Student Vote provides background information from our point of view, but they also provide links to all the political parties.”
The Student Vote results will be released and broadcast on election day. For more information click here.
