Cancer Awareness Promoted

Two events promoting awareness of cancer were big success stories on the weekend.

The Blenheim Relay For Life saw 15 teams and 145 people raise $61,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Dragonboat Festival packed the riverbank in Wallaceburg according to the United Way’s Brian Armitage.

“We saw over 3,000 people just down in the riverfront,” he says. “We had a team, the Mississippi Tailbiters from Dubuque, Iowa, 12-hour drive, the first time they’ve been to our festival.”

The Dragonboat festival raised an estimated $10,000 for the United Way of Chatham-Kent.
