An overturned tractor-trailer led to major delays on westbound Hwy. 401 at Dorchester.

The transport was heading westbound shortly after 11am on Sunday when it flipped, blocking the two left westbound lanes of Canada’s busiest highway and launching debris onto the eastbound lanes.

Witness reports indicate the tractor-trailer was trying to avoid a collision with a tanker truck when it overturned.

The male trucker was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The westbound lanes and the left eastbound lane of the highway were closed to allow crews to removed the wreckage and debris from the roadway. The Ministry of Transportation reports all lanes were reopened around 3:30pm.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
