A young Chatham girl who captured the hearts of many members of the community as she bravely battled cancer has now passed away.
16-year-old Sophia Vlasman, who suffered from a rare form of cancer, passed away peacefully shortly after 11am this morning. Her obituary reads: “Her dream of being a teacher was fulfilled by teaching us all what living really was about.”
The family is asking for friends and family to pay their respects to Sophia at the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home in Chatham on Monday, June 9 from 1pm to 9pm.
A private family service will be held. Friends are asked to consider donating to the TLC foundation in lieu of flowers. You can find their website at http://www.tlcfoundation.ca/.
