The 16-year-old Colchester boy struck and killed on County Rd. 50 is being remembered as a fun-loving, athletic teen.

Andrew (Drew) Gyorgy was hit by a vehicle while walking his motorbike along County Rd. 50 on Friday night.

“Driving back (from work) I saw his dirtbike lying on the side of the road and I was like ‘oh no’,” says Gyorgy’s best friend Kevin Neuts. “Thursday night, we were playing hockey. We were all having a really good time. We always played hockey, we also played basketball. Whatever we could find to do outside, we would do it.”

Gyorgy attended St. Thomas Villanova High School, where staff and students are mourning the loss.

“Our chapel is open and students have been accessing the chapel frequently, they’ve been hanging out in pockets, making banners and working on pages for a memory book,” says Principal Patrick Hickson. “He was a very good kid, very big heart. Every time I had a conversation with him there was always a big smile on his face.”

Visitation will take place tonight, from 7pm-9pm and again tomorrow from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. The funeral is set for Wednesday, June 4 at 10:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
