Gleaner Meeting Coming Up

Non-marketable food on display at the Southwestern Ontario Gleaners location.

The food policy council is trying to bring a version of the Essex County Gleaners to Chatham-Kent.

Health unit dietician Lyndsay Davidson says the group is trying to bring together farmers and volunteers to gather food and donate to food banks.

“The hope is that we will start some type of program, what they do with the southwest gleaners is a large amount of processing,” she says. “Ours will be more gleaning for donations to the food banks or soup kitchens.”

A representative of the Gleaners will be part of a presentation Tuesday June 3, at 6:30pm at the United Way office.
