Jamieson Tour Golfers Set (Gallery)

Rob Favaro shot a 1 under 69 to lead the way in the collegiate men’s Jamieson Junior Golf Tour qualifier on Sunday at Fox Glen near McGreggor.
The annual one-day qualifier saw close to 90 junior and collegiate golfers trying to play their way onto the tour. One of those golfers was 19-year-old St. Clair College student Wayne Carpenter who just made the cut in the collegiate division shooting an 81 to earn his fourth season on tour.
“Wasn’t my best round, so kind of fell a part at the end. Bit nervous there for the first five minutes then, when they told me I kind of jumped up. I was pretty happy,” says Carpenter. “I felt my putting let me down a lot today so, I’ll work on that and see if we can get it going again.”
Greg Fera shot a 72 to lead the men’s division in qualifying while Megan Schauer shot an 83 to lead the way on the women’s side. The 59 qualifiers will join the 49 players already on tour through their play last season.
The first event is scheduled for June 14 in Blenheim.
