Heinz and Highbury-Canco Reach Deal

It’s official, Heinz has sold its Leamington operations to Highbury-Canco.
According to a joint statement, as of June 27 the plant will cease to be operated by Heinz, with Highbury-Canco taking over.
The new owners will continue to produce tomato juice, canned beans and spaghetti for the Pittsburgh company.
The workers have agreed to a severance package with Heinz, roughly 250 will be kept on by the new company. Ten growers have also agreed to contracts to provide tomatoes to the plants, five in Chatham-Kent, four in Leamington and one in Harrow.
