Habitat for Humanity is starting to collect building supplies for its ReStore.

The organization is now renovating a property on Riverview Dr. to house the store, which is slated to open this July. The goal is to generate enough revenue so Habitat for Humanity can build more homes for those in need across Chatham-Kent.

“We are working with an on-going process for qualifying families. Once we have a family qualified, we are going to work towards that build. I’m hoping by spring of next year we’ll be breaking ground on another house,” says Executive Director Nancy McDowell. “There’s a lot of competition for fundraising dollars, so this offers an opportunity to raise those funds in a different way.”

Habitat for Humanity started in Chatham-Kent in 2009 and completed its first home last year. The group recently received an Ontario Trillium Grant worth $368, 200.

You can drop off building supply donations on Saturday from 9am-12pm at 566 Riverview Dr. in Chatham.
