Federal Dollars On Track

Conservative MP for Chatham-Kent-Essex Dave Van Kesteren says the time it takes to roll out the government’s new infrastructure program is a return to normal practices.

The budget mentioned $14-billion for infrastructure but Van Kesteren says municipalities haven’t started getting it because it will be filtered through the province and that will take some time although a previous infrastructure project was delivered quicker because of the financial crisis.

“I have to emphasis that this is the normal flow of things, what we did in the past was a result of the urgency,” he says. “We understand that infrastructure is an important component, now we are going to do it the way we normally do it.”

He says there wouldn’t be any reason for the province to not work on rolling out applications as quickly as possible.
