OPP Anti-Rackets Investigating MayorMay 16, 2014 11:17am
The OPP Anti-Rackets department is investigating Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope at the request of the local police chief.
The investigation started in October of 2013 after allegations of wrongdoing in the St. Clair College Capitol Theatre Annex deal surfaced.
“The allegations surround breach of trust and specifically a couple of properties in the municipality,” says OPP Detective Staff Sgt. Tom Whittaker. “There’s a couple (properties), two. It’s the capitol theatre property and I believe there’s some property adjacent to that.”
Former Mayoral Candidate Ian McLarty launched a civil suit against Hope alleging a conflict of interest in the St. Clair College Capitol Theatre Annex deal, but a judge decided there was no wrongdoing.
