Hockey Hall of Famer Paul Coffey is proud to say his son will be part of the Windsor Spitfires organization.

Defenceman Blake Coffey was drafted in the 5th round, however an official contract has not been signed. He says given the chance he can bring a lot to the team. “My game, I think, I’m a good skater, good first pass, strong shot, I bring a lot of grit to the table given my size. But as any 16-year-old I think I have a lot to improve on which I am working very hard at.”

Paul Coffey says this is a strong organization with a good hockey background that will help his son’s game develop. “I’m just an old-time hockey guy, I’m an easy guy. It’s all hard work, it’s all listen to your coach. It’s a game that no matter how much it changes it always remains the same. It’s a simple game and I can tell by talking to these guys [Bob Boughner and Warren Rychel] that no one is trying to reinvent the wheel here.”

The Coffeys and other draft picks have been touring the arena and the region to get a feel for the team.
