Sydenham Hospital Board Directors Resign

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance says five members of the Sydenham District Memorial Hospital Board of Directors are resigning.

There are only a total of seven members on the board. Resignations include that of the chair, vice chair and past chair. This means the CKHA’s Tri-Board of Directors is unable to meet. A minimum of four elected directors from Public General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Services Association of Chatham and the Sydenham District Memorial Hospital must be present at meetings.

Last month, Wallaceburg residents were being urged to purchase Sydenham District Memorial Hospital Corporation memberships so they could vote on who would represent the community on the board of directors and at Tri-Board meetings. The annual general meeting for the Sydenham District Hospital is next month.

The CKHA recently removed all continuing care beds from the Sydenham Campus. The hospital remains with a long-term care home (operated by a third party), emergency department and several other services.
