Five girls will be one step closer to the Miss Universe Canada crown after tonight’s pageant in Windsor.

Western Ontario Regional Director Sonny Borrelli says 21 contestants, from as far away as Guelph, have already been through one-on-one interviews with the judges, which makes up a third of their final score. “The judges ask them everyday questions about maybe things they’ve done in the past, what their dreams and aspirations are and things they hope to achieve by doing the pageant.”

Borrelli says there are 14 women from Windsor and Essex County competing in tonight’s event at the Capitol Theatre.

The winners of this evening’s pageant will compete for the Miss Universe Canada title in Toronto on May 24. The winner of that pageant will then represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant later this year.

Tickets for tonight’s event are still available online.
