Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is looking to the future of electricity production in the province and says that means dealing with issues around energy prices.

Wynne made the comments during a stop Wednesday in Chatham-Kent. She says removing the debt retirement charge is proof of that.

“We’ve been aware that we need to deal with concerns around energy prices. We’ve got the Ontario Clean Energy Benefit in place,” says Wynne. “As it expires, we want to make sure people still have the support that they need so that’s why we will be taking the charge off.”

The debt retirement charge is scheduled for removal January 1, 2016 and hinges on the May 1 budget being passed.
