Transport Runs Bus Off Road

Chatham-Kent police are looking for the public’s help in identifying a transport truck that ran a school bus full of children off the road in Romney Township.

Investigators say around 8:30am, police were called to Campbell Rd. when a bus driver was forced to the side of the road by an oncoming escorted wide load transport truck. The bus slid off the roadway, into a ditch, then came to rest in a farmer’s field. The transport truck left the scene.

The bus was full of children from Old Colony School Board. One child is being treated in a Leamington hospital for minor injuries.

The truck involved in the incident is described as a wide load transport pulling a flatbed trailer carrying large steel frames. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or CrimeStoppers.
