Navistar Workers Found Help At College
When faced with layoffs, roughly 700 Navistar workers took advantage of a retraining program offered by St. Clair College.
Karen Gill-Gore, director of Government Training Services, says there were many topics covered in the five-week course.
“We had some services around adjustments, so workshops, help with resumes, job searches things like that,” says Gill-Gore. “As well as specific training for all levels of employees, be it administration or workers. things like manufacturing fundamentals and effective leading and customer service training.”
The program started in 2006 and wrapped up in 2009 with a total of 35 sessions held over that time.
