Caesars Shuts Down Hotel This Morning file photo of Caesars Windsor.

Ahead of a ratification vote for 2,300 unionized workers, Caesars Windsor is shutting down its hotel.

The hotel will close at 11am Tuesday and reopen at 4pm Wednesday. Spokeswoman Jhoan Baluyot says the company is being proactive in the event the workers reject a tentative contract worked out last week. “Calling people before they come and that we are in fact closed,” she says. “For those people who don’t get that message and do come in, we are offering them a future stay.” All other gaming and non-gaming amenities at Caesars Windsor will remain open.

The casino relocated hundreds of guests last Thursday night as negotiations with Unifor Local 444 went down to the wire.

The ratification vote is at the Caboto Club in Windsor. The first session is at 11am. Two other sessions follow at 3pm and 7pm.
