No Changes At Riverview Gardens

It’s going to be the status quo for laundry services and housekeeping at Riverview Gardens. Both were recently put under the microscope as part of the municipal sustainability review process.

The two services cost around $2.3-million annually and the cost savings of out sourcing was pegged at just $34,000.

Tami Gillier is the senior services director. She says there are other drawbacks to outsourcing. “We had to ensure that the money was going to provide the same service at the same quality,” says Gillier. “We were going to lose some integration of services that we couldn’t put a price on so we couldn’t reflect that in the cost savings.”

On top of the housekeeping employees process 890,000lbs of laundry in a year.
