Health Coalition Sends Message

The Ontario Health Coalition believes a voluntary vote held over the last few weeks sends a strong message to the province that people don’t want the health system privatized.

Shirley Roebuck, the chair of the Chatham-Kent Health Coalition, says she heard from a lot of people concerned about recent talk of taking a number of services out of hospitals and into clinics.

“They were passionate about public health care, they were so grateful they told me for this effort because they want community hospitals to remain,” she says. “They do not want to see any hospital health care services privatized.”

She says everyone who voted in Chatham-Kent was opposed to privatization, as were the vast majority of those who voted province-wide.
