Spitfires Coach Named Award Finalist

Windsor Spitfires head coach Bob Boughner’s been named a finalist for this year’s Ontario Hockey League Matt Leyden Trophy.

Boughner is one of five finalists named.

The league says it will announce the winners in seven categories throughout the remainder of the playoffs. Each team was asked to submit one nominee for six of the categories, and the finalists for the Red Tilson Trophy for the league’s Most Outstanding Player of the Year is voted on by sports writers and broadcasters.

The Spitfires’ Slater Koekkoek is one of 20 nominees for the Red Tilson Trophy and one of six for the Max Kaminsky Trophy for Defenceman of the Year. Belle River’s Aaron Ekblad also made the list for Most Outstanding Player.
