Spitfires Call Up Maroons Goalie

Following Spitfires goalie Dalen Kuchmey’s abrupt departure during Game 3 against the London Knights, there’s word Chatham Maroons goalie Brendan Johnston will play backup for Windsor.
Kuchmey left the game Tuesday night angry the team didn’t pull him after allowing eight goals. Spits head coach Bob Boughner called it unacceptable. “Once you quit on our team, then ah… We’re going to concentrate on the guys that want to be here.” The Spitfires lost the game 10-2.
Late Wednesday night, Boughner issued a statement offering an apology saying, “I would never intentionally embarrass a player.” He says he has been in touch with Kuchmey and his family offering any assistance they may need.
The Chatham Maroons start their playoff series against the Leamington Flyers Thursday night, but head coach Mark Davis says the team has other options. “We got Scott Tricker. We signed him from last year,” he says. “And we could always bring up the (Joseph) Raaymakers boy from midget if Scott couldn’t make it.”
