Flyers Draw First Blood (Gallery)

The Leamington Flyers will be heading to Chatham with a 1-0 series lead on the Maroons.
The Flyers came back down 3-1 in the third period to take Game 1 of their GOJHL West Final series with a 4-3 overtime win at Heinz Arena on Thursday night. The overtime winner was one of two goals from Flyers centre David Dalby.
“It was a bounce that kind of just landed on my stick,” says Dalby. “Our coach was just saying, trying to get pucks to the net, you know just try to get rebounds, shooting low and went off his pads and got a lucky bounce off their stick and got in.”
“You know what we made three mistakes and it cost us the hockey game,” says Mark Davis, head coach for the Maroons. “All in all being off a week, and I know they been off a week but, we took them into overtime, we had some good things out there we just, to me, I told [the players] in there, we gave them the game.”
It’s the first playoff loss for the Maroons this post-season and the team will try to even up the series on home ice Friday with puck-drop set for 8pm.
