Sub-contracted Employee Accused Of Theft

A Chatham man doing work for Canada Post faces charges for allegedly stealing mail containing money.

The company’s been receiving complaints of mail not being delivered the past few months. Through its own investigation, Canada Post determined a sub-contracted employee was responsible.

Canada Post contacted police earlier this week and an officer stopped the accused driving home from work yesterday. Police searched the man and say he was in possession of two pieces of stolen mail.

Darren Hickmott, 46, of Chatham faces two counts of possessing stolen mail and was released with a future court date.
